Hi guys!

Just letting you know about a great exam revision programme for students from underrepresented schools. It's called SWOT and is being run by the Melbourne University Health Initiative. The programme offers a day of lectures and tutorials (so you'll actually be able to ask some questions!) at the University of Melbourne. MUHI is a not-for-profit organisation, so all of the tutors are volunteers. Personally, I'm involve in the Biology component of the programme and can say that the stuff is looking great thus far; the selection process is brutal too so you'll only get the best of the best :) You also get a full set of notes, lecture slides and tutorial questions from the day!

Here's the link so you can have geese: http://muhi.org.au/programs/swot/

Dates: 29th of September to 3rd of October
Cost: $5 per subject (not a typo)

For everyone else's benefit here's the list: http://futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/admissions/access_melbourne_and_equity_programs/access-melbourne/eligibility-criteria/under-represented-schools

My understanding is that if your school has been on that list at any point in time, you're sweet. So sign up quickly! :)

If it says it's confirmed, then you should be right to go! :)

I don't think they've published a list of lecturers. The vast majority of them are recent year 12 graduands, all of whom achieved freakishly high scores etc. The selection process was quite tight this year, so there's a lot of experience in quite a young team which is a bit surprising.

What kind of info were you hoping to get?

I'm not sure really, it just feels weird going to something without any specific details. How long does each lecture go for?

The detail they provide is relatively good I thought; I'll let them know that though :)

It depends on the particular subject; certain subjects break up things different. There are six sessions, each of one hour. These sessions will either be lectures or tutes. The most number of lectures you'd get is 4, the least 2.

Is it possible to get start/finish times [lecture clash] and possible to still book ?

You can still book. The programme runs from 8.30 til 4. So the first lecture starts at 9 :)

Hey T-Rav! I just booked my tickets for further maths lecture - going with a mate - i was wondering exactly when and where it will run. The website says - Thursday 2nd October .... Further Mathematics - Each subject will run from 8:30am to 4:15pm.

where do we go for this particular one? and is this is the only further one?

Thanks   :) :)

It is the only Further one and as for the the location I'm not exactly sure. You should get an e-mail telling you where on campus to go. I'm not sure we entirely know yet :)
