Hi everyone!

I was just wondering if any one knows where you can get some lit trial exams such as the VATE or CSE ones. My teacher doesn't have any and she's not that great or approachable either.

Thanks :)

Just photocopy three passages from your texts. Choose the pages randomly and don't read them until you do the prac exam.

There's no point paying for exam papers when you have an endless source of prac exams at your fingertips.

I agree. It is simply a matter of randomly picking passages from your novel/play. Of course, choose passages that you feel could potentially show up for the exam because it is useless to pick passages that have little meaning in them. For eg, I do "Jane Eyre" at school this year and I've decided to simply pick a passage (approx. 2-3 pages) from each of the different stages of the protagonist's life so that the three passages themselves can have connecting ideas in them.

Or the other thing you could do is to find someone in your class studying one of your other texts (preferably both of them). Select three passages per text for them and photocopy them and get them to do the same. Then swap the photocopied sheets so it is a surprise as to what passages you are to analyse.

All good answers posted! Try to practice with as many different passage 'kinds' as you can, so spanning the characters, critical ideas and contexts of your respective text.
