Which uni?

I'm still contemplating which uni to go to, either Monash or Melbourne in doing a commerce degree. My situation is that I live 10-15 mins away from Monash (Clayton) and 45mins-1hr away from Melbourne uni(including bus, train and tram).  Will the travel time affect my motivation to study, since I am also wishing to work part time? I know that's a vague explanation of my situation, but I just want to know what you guys think of which uni to go to.

Both degrees are high quality and employability from a commerce degree in either university would likely be roughly the same.

Travel time is absolutely an important factor in choosing which uni you want to attend. In my personal opinion, 45-60 mins isn't outside the realm of reasonability to go to a university but a 10-15 minute transit time would definitely be preferable to me (makes those inevitable 8am classes exponentially more manageable haha!).

My advice would be to 1) take into strong consideration how much of a factor travel time is to you, and 2) go to open days at both universities to see which you like best. A slightly longer travel time shouldn't preclude you from attending a university that you like better solely due to convenience.

Good luck!

If I were in your situation, the travel time would definitely be enough to sway me towards Monash, even if I had slight preference for Melbourne. If you've got a high preference for Melbourne, you'd have to weigh things up.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️
