Hey there,

To what extent do we need to know about arithmetic and geometric sequences/series for 3/4? Haven't come across these topics before.

Also, do questions regarding circle geometry come up often (probably not I'm guessing?)?

Btw, I'm currently going through the Chapter 1: A toolbox in the Essentials textbook.

Thanks

Sequences and series are not on the specialist curriculum.

Are you serious!? Why is it in the textbook then? O.o

So what exactly do I need to know that is contained within Chapter 1 of Essentials?

That part is in unit 1/2 as long as I rmb, reason why its in 3/4 textbook I don't know neither.
Here's the study design: http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/vce/mathematics/mathsstd.pdf. Go to page 160 onward and it summarizes all the key details you definitely need to know for each chapter.

Another question. Are we required to know about parametric equations of circles, ellipses and hyperbolas? Doesn't explicitly say in the SD.. unless I've missed something.

You need to know how to go from parametric equations into Cartesian form, but not the other way around.
