Physical Education?

Hello guys,
I am in year 12 for 2015. I was thinking about doing physical education this year, however I did not do physical education in year 11. I was wondering if that would disadvantage me in any way and is there a particular skill that you need to be able to get a high mark for this subject, or is it just hard work and effort that gets you a high mark?

I am thinking about dropping Mathematical Methods (CAS) for physical education because I did not enjoy Methods at all. However, the benefit of continuing methods is that I have previously completed units 1 and 2 so there is a sense of security since I am familiar with the subject and I know what to expect. Do you guys think it would be a good idea to replace methods with physical education in year 12 and risk it? I completed year 11 methods with an A+ average if that helps.

Did you mean to say you didn't complete PhysEd in year 11 (and not history)? I can't comment on either subjects as I haven't done them before.

If you're getting A+ in Methods, I'd recommend you stick with it despite not finding enjoyment in it. Like you said, you're familiar with Methods and you know what to expect, so why drop it? Honestly, 3/4 is merely an extension of 1/2, and how well you did in 1/2 is rather indicative of what you can achieve in 3/4, especially if you put in the extra effort.

Hi there!

Having done, both those subjects I think I can help with your dilemma. Methods is a difficult, time consuming and tedious subject. The leap from Year 11 Maths to Year 12 Maths is quite big and it gets considerably more complex. Even though it scales up quite a bit, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a great score, and it may actually backfire on you.

There isn't a lot of content from Units 1 and 2 that you need for 3+4 PE. You only really need the NPAGS and energy systems, and you basically relearn those in AOS 1 anyway. PE is a subject that DOES require hard work and effort, but because it is so relatable to us as humans (since we do physical exercise everyday, technically), it's easier to consolidate into memory and therefore apply to questions.

That is my very brief insight into those subjects. It's probably too late because school has started though! I think you should drop methods, and put your effort into PE.

If you need any help, message me and I'm happy to help! I'm also a private tutor for PE this year, and will be willing to talk rates and help you in any way :)
