Holiday Reading

Just wondering if its necessary to read all of the texts (prescribed by the school) over the summer holidays. From the plan they gave us, we will be studying no sugar and every man in this village is liar during our first semester. I cant seem to justify to myself that its worth reading twice as many texts when i can split the load and do the second semester texts over the semester 1 holidays. Is there any big downsides to doing this?

Well, there's an upside to doing it, which would imply you should unless there's a bigger downside to doing it.

My school made us read our 3 chosen texts for the year plus film. So yep, ugh....   I mean, why not read them? Make some notes on the side of course.
