I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned already. But I rather stay away from early morning 8-9AM classes. When I was first year back then I thought it would be nice to come early just like in school and finish fast. But after a while it's surprising how you will lose some of the will to come and attend lectures, tutorial everything. (especially if you do stay up late at night)

Are purposeful clashes allowed? I have this one finance lecture that really ruins my week (and its only on wednesdays) and I want to schedule it on the same time as a bio workshop. Can I do this or will it not let me

You can do it. Best to double-check that the lectures are recorded first.

If it's anything like it was when I was in first year, the bio workshops only run fortnightly anyway.

I would actually like to know whether Workshops/Practicals for Biol,Chem,Physics are weekly or fortnightly...

I know that for bio and chem they're fortnightly,  i assume they'd be similar for physics.

If you mean Physics 1 or similar, then they were every week with about 3 weeks off. Randomly set up so you will need to check the lab timetable on the LMS.

For Biol they are fortnightly.

For Chem there were 6 practicals randomly spread throughout the 12 weeks.

For Physics ^^^

They can. You can have, say, two pracs in two weeks, then a two week break.

I presume you're talking about chem.

Yes they can. The 6 pracs are randomly distributed throughout semester. I had 3 in the last 3 weeks of semester.

Oh and on the subject of your Chem, Physics etc. pracs set these at the start or the end of your day or else you will get big 3 hour+ gaps in your days; if it's not too late already.
