Does it matter if we go to lectures?

Currently I have a clash with my chem10006 practical and the chem10006 lecture due the practical being moved from 9am-12pm to 10am-1pm. Although unimelb said they would offer additional times for these lectures, it would ruin my timetable. So could I just skip the lecture, go to the prac, and watch the lecture at home? I'm a first year student btw

If the lecture is recorded then yes, you can skip it and no one is going to care.

Just make sure you catch up on them at home.

You definitely shouldn't get into the habit of getting far behind in your lectures/classes (although everyone does it.)

As long as you catch up on the lecture you've missed before the next lecture, you'll be fine.

Currently I have a clash with my chem10006 practical and the chem10006 lecture

I just wanted to add that for chem10006, the lecturer sometimes does demonstrations during the lecture. For example, he used the ball/stick model to show chirality, and discuss enantiomers. These demonstrations are (usually) not recorded, which mandates students to attend.

In the event of a subject clash, I'd browse for similar demos on youtube to replace the ones I've missed out on during the lecture.
