What scores would I be needing to get to attain a raw study score of 40 or above (in English)?

Thank you

The actual number score your school gives you for SACs, taken out of context, is largely irrelevant (read up on one of the 'how they calculate your study score' guides if unsure). On the exam, you'd be looking for roughly 8s average and up.

Look, sacs really dont matter as much as you think. Maybe english is a subject where it's harder to get over a 40 due to the number of people that take it (and therefore, the number of people you compete with) - but in literature, most my sac marks were around 80 - 85% - I think I even had a 70% on one of my worst sacs. I managed to get a raw 40 in that subject, so I think the exam matters a lot more than sacs.

Exams do matter more than SACs but I would not dismiss SAC marks completely. Generally, you will be looking at A+ for SACs and A+ in the exam. I received 195/200 for SACs so I only lost five marks in total throughout the year but the final exam broke me and I ended up with 41. I was in such a terrible condition that I ended up writing a random piece on a text I never read (I still don't know how I managed to do that...) Please study for the exam as hard as you can and don't break down due to stress like me.

If I didn't do well in SACs I would have received a score below 40.

I think to be able to get a 40, your best bet would be to do well in SACs. (Aim for at least 80%+) and do well on the exam. As the above has posted, it does depend on your cohort and how they do. In my case, my cohort was surprisingly strong (even though the English staff complained we weren't doing enough) and so even though I just passed my Unit 4, I was able to do well in the exam to get a 36. My friend on the other hand, did very very well during the year and in the final exam only completed 1 paragraph of her language analysis still got a 40. So it really does depend.
Because studying is cool. God no.
