Hello all, as the title suggests, what are some good backpacks because the previous backpacks I have used kept ripping on me constantly? I want a backpack that is durable and that is of the price range of $50. Alternatively, what backpacks do you guys use for school or university as I am interested to know. Cheers :)

Kathmandu Cubic V3 32L
I have had 5-10 backpacks over the years, and this is by far the best one. My brother and dad have both got the same one because it is such good quality, dad's has lasted 5+ years without any kind of damage whatsoever. While it retails at a ridiculous $179, like all things Kathmandu if you wait for a sale you can get it for around $55-60 (Even cheaper if you get a less popular colour). The thing is tough; you can just feel from the zips, straps and general construction that it is top notch quality. Definately recomended if you can get it for the sale price.

Online is probably the way to go, take a look at kogan, eBay and catchoftheday. Herschel backpacks or messenger bags are usually quite good.

Having owned 2 i can say they are quite good. You should always get the ones with the laptop sleeve though, I suggest Herschel Pop quiz, the laptop compartment is more padded and durable compared to their other styles.
Oh i didn't see that your budget is ~$50, in this case, Jansport is a reputable brand , it doesn't have a laptop compartment but it's $49.95 iirc and it has a life time warranty.

This is what I have, too. I only bought it fairly recently (~October/November), but I have taken it backpacking and it worked wonders. I can't imagine it suffering any considerable damage over the next few years.

This bag looks so awesome, unfortunately it goes over my budget :(. Thanks for the great suggestion :)

Those backpacks remind me of the backpacks you can get from Roger David and from my experience, Roger David backpacks are terrible imo only because the quality is quite poor.
