You probably already know this, but just in case you don't. Engineering Computation and Foundation of Algorithms are taught by the same lecturer, and according to him they have massive overlaps. They're not restricted against each other but might as well be, the lecturer strongly discourages taking both. He also said that Electrical Engineering paths will accept Foundations of Algorithms + Design of Algorithms to satisfy the prerequisite of Engineering Computation, but Mechanical Engineering will not, though I can't find any info on this anywhere.

Ah my bad, looks like Alistair Moffat teaches the two subjects during different semesters. I'd still recommend you shoot him an email about this though, if the subjects turn out to be mostly the same it could make the semester pretty slow.
