I talked to my teacher and found out that currently im rank 2 in the cohort, i got 88% overall and rank 1 got 91% overall. He got 2 marks higher on the first sac. Given that I maintain this rank or get rank 1 and ace the exams could i get a 45+ if not a 50. In further last year i was rank 1 but my sac average was much higher (98%) so im a bit worried about methods.
Thanks

The raw mark doesn't matter, so yes, you could get a really high score as long as you have a high rank.

If the raw mark actually mattered, that would reward schools that set easier SACs. The system isn't unfair, so what matters is your scores relative to your cohort and how good that cohort ends up being (how well they do on the exam).

I got a 41 in methods with a great performance on my exams, it was only due to a poor SAC ranking it wasn't higher and the people above me underperformed. In a weak cohort, top 5 and all A+ should definitely do it

So even if my raw sac average is like an A but im rank 1 and i get high A+ on both exams that will get scaled and i can get a 50?

Yep, that's pretty much it. I've had my SACs scale up for pretty much all my top scoring subjects, even in English Language - I didn't even A+ the exam but my SACs still scaled from a raw A to A+.

Though for a Methods 50 you'll need extremely an extremely high A+, the A+ range for methods is pretty wide and you need to be pretty much at the top for both exams. You might have fun playing with this (estimation based on 2013): https://www.desmos.com/calculator/kxpfx9qu2c, did it while I was bored last year. :P
