Now what? (1st SAC)

My school has provided the stimuli (three quotes and 5 examples) but not the essay topic for the first SAC. It looks like the stimuli is leaning towards situational context. What can i do to prepare between now and the sac?
I've found some topics pertaining to informal language + context, and I have some other (more general) informal lang essay topics. Should i try to write a prac essay or...??

Also, with regards to memorising quotes and examples, should i focus on stuff relating to context or prepare for everything in case my prediction is wrong?

Hey there!

I would recommend you go about categorising all your quotes into convenient categories (such as slang, swear terms, technology, cultural identity etc.) and then memorise from there.

I would recommend you focus on context and make sure you mention the principle of appropriateness (i.e. where and why it is appropriate to use informal language in this particular context). For example, it is appropriate to use slang in social groups as it helps to serve the function of building social solidarity and a decreased social distance between group members.

Just have a clear understanding of the concepts and functions of informal language, and relevant quotes to back it up.

We're expected to use our own quotes and examples as well.. But yeah haha maybe they're going easy on us bc it's the first sac. :L
