MD/DDS 2016 Entry Questions!!

I can't remember, but around here somewhere. GAMSAT results thread maybe...I'm going to do the BEng/BSc (BSc with my electives being the three prerequisites and other Bio/Chem based Science, and the BEng, just in case it doesn't work out ) I don't know what to major in though, does it have to be health science based? I would do math otherwise.

For Monash MBBS Grad pathway not sure whether you can get accepted through that pathway.
With regards to other unis such as UoM, there is no major requirement however you must complete the 3 prerequisite subjects (Biochem, Anat, Physiology @ UoM 2nd year standard).

Serious question - how many of  you have a "med or dent only" attitude / know someone with that mentality? Like, no consideration of Physio, Optometry, Research?

I mean even in this thread, there was discussion of going into the DDS with the intention of transferring to medicine

Everyone has a backup plan because it makes no sense to not have one. Some I've heard are physio, podiatry, optometry etc. even teaching.

My preference is more like med > dent > research. I don't think you'll find many people with that mentality as we all need something to fall upon, given how crazy competitive it's become

It's probably because I'm a first year, but almost all my biomed friends have that mentality of "med or dent" which is hilariously stereotypical

Also, are GAMSAT/GPAs requirements increasing heaps? Like, in 2021, will it be like 75 on the GAMSAT and a 7.0 GPA?

Asking what it will be like in 2021 multiple times isn't going to make someone give you a good answer to it. No one knows and no one can know. Who knows if the GAMSAT will even be used in 2021, they could have a new test, or they could make a pre-requisite of being able to 'hop on one foot for 2 minutes while singing and solving the Rubik's cube".

No one knows.

The forum Paging Dr has results from years and years of entry, feel free to suss out the trends, feed them into an Excel spreadsheet, and make projections for 2021

Too hard to predict what it will be like in 2021 but the general consensus is that the scores needed for entry are inflating.

WAit til 3rd year - then its pretty much 100% med

Pretty much my preference although for a period in second year I had dent > med > research. After this year I can safely say research is no longer on any list whatsoever for future career.

@Melon apparently not all Deakin offers are out yet. Quite a few people on PD who have only Deakin as a viable option left but no EoD.
