Methods for studying for psych?

What are some good methods of studying for psych? There's so much content, and I'm not sure what stuff I'll need for the exam, and whats stuff I can afford to ignore.My first semester exam is approaching and I still have heaps of stuff I have to go over, so I don't want to be making the same mistakes in second semester.
