In order to succeed in your next SAC and subsequent exam, I am going to highly recommend you follow the set structure below. This study plan assumes your next SAC will be an essay, which from my experience, often proves to be the most widely used SAC format for Unit 4 AOS 1.
1. Go through the textbook and read all pages on Unit 4 AOS 1. Make comprehensive notes accordingly on the textbook pages above. In particular, understand the appropriate metalanguage needed in this AOS.
2. Once you have solidified your knowledge of Unit 4 AOS 1, begin to write practice essays for this AOS. This will ensure you get ample practice. Always practice under timed conditions and make sure you know the essay structure format. Many English Language students complain about time management, so practice and this problem will be avoided!
3. Compile a quotations and examples list; proactively search the web for relevant quotes and examples in contemporary society. Use Google News and search for key phrases related to the topic (e.g. Americanisation).
4. Go over A+ essay responses and analytical commentaries in the Green Book (Kirsten Fox's Exam Guide) as well as past sample essays from your teacher. In doing so, highlight key phrases in each response. Remember that exposure to excellent writing along with practice = success. Get your teacher to correct any practice essays you've written, and always try to create your own style of writing.
Upon reflection, one thing that has helped me immensely was to become incredibly inquisitive. After talking to many other English Language tutors, this also has helped them too! English Language is about your own inquisitive efforts to observe what is happening out in contemporary society. It is one of those subjects which require a lot of your own independent research without being provided with materials from your teacher (this is what will give you an edge!).
