All my results are out as of this morning :) It's been a pretty solid semester overall, I'm a bit disappointed with Genetics (that 8 mark multiple choice question destroyed me ugh) but ah well, my WAM remains healthy, despite the rollercoaster it's gone on over the past couple of days.

2015   Semester 1   BCMB20002   Biochemistry and Molecular Biology   1   88   H1   First Class Honours

2015   Semester 1   CHEM20018   Chemistry: Reactions and Synthesis   2   59   P   Pass

2015   Semester 1   EDUC20080   School Experience as Breadth   1   91   H1   First Class Honours

2015   Semester 1   GENE20001   Principles of Genetics   1   78   H2A   Second Class Hons A
2012: Biology [50] | Japanese SL [41]

Congrats everyone! Especially to those who have just started first year and had a massive adjustment from high school to university, and to everyone who worked bloody hard all semester regardless of what your final results were.

silverpixeli, you're not allowed to be disappointed with a mark over 90, it's the rules! ;)

BTW I noticed a few people did Critical Thinking with Data but there's no subject review for it - I'd be interested to hear what people think. One of my friends is a tutor for that subject and was pretty frustrated at the quality of a lot of the essays they marked, so unless it got scaled dramatically, it's not an "easy marks" kind of subject. Anyone getting an H2 or H1 for it should give themselves a big pat on the back. (i.e. I heard the expectations were pretty high for both writing ability and statistical understanding.)
BSc (Pure Mathematics) @ UWA, '04-'09
Postgraduate Diploma in Science (Mathematics and Statistics) @ UniMelb, '14
Master of Science (Statistics and Stochastic Processes) @ UniMelb, '15-'16

Thanks :D!

I'll do one tomorrow :). To be honest, me and my friends both felt as if our tutor had treated us as if were going to be future statisticians, and so marked us extremely harshly. When in fact, it was merely a breadth subject and we were doing it just out of interest to learn the basics of stats. But regardless I really enjoyed the subject, the lecturer (who took all the core lectures) was so amazing.

And you're right, we had to work so hard for the results, it did not feel like a breadth subject as well, I actually had to work harder for this than biology and still got a lower score.

I'll put up a review soon!

I think I'll also do a review for it tomorrow. I felt as though there was very high expectations as you've said - it was one of those subjects where you needed to cover what they wanted or it was simply wrong. A lot of the time, even if what you say is relevant, if they haven't decided upon it being relevant, it wasn't considered valid & thus you lost marks. I think my performance in the subject would have been better if my tutor wasn't so harsh while marking lol. She hated me though bc I walked in late for my first tutorial after getting lost week 1. #physicsbuilding

In spite of that, I actually enjoyed the lecturer. She is brilliant and is very good in terms of keeping interest, making lessons interactive with polls and the content was quite interesting too. I did it as a subject with interest in stats - just think they shouldn't have had such high expectations from us coming from a non stats background (for the most part).
