Definitely possible although I think ideally you would be doing those 1/2's this year. You could still do the 3/4's next year without the 1/2's of course. They will count towards your ATAR depending on what scores you receive in comparison to this year's subjects and how many subjects you've completed. Assuming you only have 5 then at least one will count.

Is there any reason why you're spreading your VCE over 3 years? If you're just interested in learning a couple languages you could complete a diploma of language instead.

yep you can do more VCE subjects, even if you have got the requirements to get an ATAR at the end of this year (english + a few other subjects) you will get a 2015 ATAR and then if you do more subjects in 2016 at the end of the year your ATAR will be recalculated taking into account your new scores so you'll get a new 2016 ATAR that has the best 6 of your howevermany scores

also if it is just to learn/explore/study some languages then there are plenty of other ways. but there's nothing stopping you administratively as far as i know

That's fair enough but I think you would be better off doing a diploma of language. Have you considered this?

A 3/4 would be too late but you might be able to pick up unit 2. Speak to your school.

No. You would complete this alongside your degree at uni. The reason I say this is if you get the ATAR required for your course then there is really no point doing VCE for another year just to study a language. You would be better off going to uni and completing the languages you're interested in there. :)

so sorry to hijack your thread dan97

I was wondering:

if I complete VCE this year & get my ATAR and then start uni next year, would it be possible for me to also complete a few VCE subject(s) such as a language or whatever else through Distance Education or on the weekends to then get a 2016 ATAR?

Sounds bizarre I know, but could I get a second chance through this pathway?

Not too sure about this one. Assuming you did it through Distance Education I'm going to say yes (probably better you check with them though). In saying that, if you're in uni, why would you need a second pathway? If it's simply to maximise your ATAR I wouldn't bother; it's not going to matter once you're at university. And even if it's out of interest, your course should allow you to take electives from other areas that might interest you. And alternatively, there are numerous websites out there that allow you to take courses in subjects you're interested in for free.

also, if you were at a uni but not necessarily the uni you wanted it's likely that a better pathway would be maximising first year uni performance to become an attractive candidate for transfer to the uni of your choice, at the same time getting some first year subjects out of the way so that you might not have to do them again at your preferred uni, and also not taking on the extra workload of a distance ed subject
