University Query

Hello guys,

How can we apply for interstate universities/courses? I have not yet started applying for anything but I want to do it right the first time round, so don't want to rush anything.

If I apply to a university in NSW, would this go on my VTAC application, or would I have to do it separately? If so, how can we apply for interstate Universities?

Thank you for your time,
Cosine.

Interstate universities have their own university admission groups - for NSW and the ACT, this is UAC, so you'll have to make an application through them. You'll still need to make an application through VTAC to go to a Victorian university, though.

As above, I would highly recommend applying for other unis if you're considering medicine. Be aware of their different entrance requirements (eg. JCU has a whole written application) as it's not always just an application through their respective version of VTAC.

Pi, you seem very knowledgeable about medicine, what universities in Australia give MBBS or equivalent? (Or is there a website i can look at?)

Cheers!

It's almost like I am enrolled in medicine! :P

There's a list of participating universities for the UMAT in ACER's UMAT info book, then there's also JCU that doesn't use the UMAT. Furthermore ANU has this weird and wonderful 99+ pathway (but who wants to go to Canberra? LOL), and the 99.95's get special entry at U Syd and UoM, whilst the 99.90's get special entry at UoM as well.

Nah bro you're not good enough for med ;)

When you say 99+ etc.. Um... Would SEAS decrease this ATAR requirement or is SEAS not applicable for these courses?

Cheers xD

Yeah SEAS does help out when applying for Medicine. It does lower the requirements, but that all hinges on the severity of the situation at hand. If you're considering Monash and you fall into the right categories, then you could be eligible for the Monash guarantee.

For Monash, yes, it does help the ATAR part of the application.

I'm not sure how it assists for interstate unis and if there are separate applications like "SEAS" for each state or if they use the one through VTAC (I would doubt this to be the case).
