Would this be possible?

I want to do a science degree at monash next year however I probably won't get the atar for it. Would it be possible to do another course at monash with a lower atar and do all science subjects as electives and then transfer after a semester to science given my marks are good enough. Is there any restrictions on when you can take electives or any rules against what i want to do?. Any help would be much appreciated.

have you applied for SEAS? If so, you might be eligible for the Monash Guarantee. If youre eligible, it brings the entry score down to 75. If not, then i strongly recommend you just do a Science degree at another university, get good marks then transfer. There's no point doing another degree you possibly won't like just to do science electives, because if you do BSci at another university, there's a high chance all your units can be credited (check with the uni when doing transfers), you avoid studying something you don't like and it'll save you time.

Definitely, as long as the course has enough freedom of choice and has electives (eg, a Bachelor of Arts).

Thanks for the replies.
I meant that I wanted to do 4 science subjects as electives in my first semester then transfer to science. I'm not sure if anyone misunderstood what a said. Could someone clarify.
Thanks.

Yeah, you're fine, just depends on if you pick the right course (not all courses have electives, and some will force you to pick specific units at certain points)

(1) Yes, you can do it and get in like that. It won't replace any prerequisites though. If you needed 2x science or a math to get into a Bsc, you still need to have those (but you can do them at uni before you transfer).

(2) As the others pointed out, the degree must allow electives. Pick something rather general to help with this.

(3) Science (85.00) is kind of towards the low end of Monash degrees, especially at Clayton. If you get under this it will somewhat complicate matters. You might be able to get into Arts or something else (Business? Idk about electives though) at Caufield.
