Could there be a problem with my Studyscore ?

Hey guys,

For my Health and Human Development exam my grades were : GA1: A+ GA2: A GA3: A+ =41
I was rank 1 and had a 97% average the whole year, also checked my answers after the exam and felt I did really well

My question is, If I was rank 1, shouldn't my sac marks not be affected by my cohort performance? If i got an A+ on the exam shouldn't that mean that my Sacs should also be A+? Could this mean my teacher forgot to add one of my Unit 4 Sac marks or mistaken my marks with someone else, and placed for example a "B" and due to my exam performance have scaled to an A?

Since i'm overseas is it possible I could inspect my exam and get it re marked? Can my teacher look at my paper without me being there and send it off to VCAA for remarking?
I Have ordered a statement of marks/exam marks sheet to see how my study score was calculated, but still want to get my exam looked at again if possible.
My study score in this subject could be the difference of me getting into my dream course or not !

Any advice guys?
Thank you heaps !
Thanks

I swear, something has gone wrong with HHD.  You're the fourth person I've seen on this forum who is getting a 30s/low 40s score who expected (and in some cases, I also expected) a high 40s/50 score.  Honestly don't get it.  Unfortunately too much of one's scores are up to chance and sometimes someone just cops it. :(

Yeah I have no idea what happened either, I checked my exam answers with your suggested solutions, and they were pretty much identical. So genuinely confused.
I've kind of accepted it anyways, can still get into a really good course but just want to make sure nothing went wrong in the process, and the mistake was on my behalf.
Many of my friends who were A+ all year and in practice exams also got pretty disappointing marks. Not sure whats the case :/

Hey, not sure if you're still wanting to look into this, but it probably depends on which end you are of the a+ and how your exam mark scaled your sacs. For example i got all three a+ a+ a+ and got a 45 and people with 50's will also have all three a+ so it really depends if you're high a+ or low a+! Anyway, good luck and hope you get it sorted if there was any errors!

I've seen the same for Physics. People were expecting like 40+ easy, and we ended up with 33. Like heaps of people I know got 33...

You can't have been rank 1 if you got A for GA2 which is for unit 4 SACs, if you were rank 1 your GA2 marks would equal the highest exam score from your class, and your exam result was higher than what you got for GA2, thus your GA2 result does not equal the highest mark in the cohort.

There could be an error on behalf of your school if you know for a fact you were rank 1 for both unit 3 and 4. Maybe ask your teacher to double check the results they reported to VTAC if you notice a discrepancy when you check your statement of study score.

I doubt it could be an error with exam marking because the exams are double marked and if there is an error there is a triple mark - it's possible but very unlikely, especially considering you had A+ which is still very high. I think the thing causing your study score to be lower than expected is the GA2 result mostly, which is the product of your schools marking and scaled by exam results.

Generally though, the GA2 result seems to most out of place to me with the data you have provided.

You have to be present when reviewing your exam. If you are going overseas you may have to arrange it before you go or hopefully review would still be available by the time you get back [I believe reviews close around February].

I know you posted this two weeks ago but hopefully it is still of relevance to you.

Your exam score doesn't equal your SAC grade. Put simply, I was originally given {GA 1, GA 2, GA 3} = {A, A+. A+} -> SS 46 for Methods 2012. This is the score you will find online if you look up my name in any study score archive. It turns out that I pretty much aced the exam and my SAC grade (GA 1) was wrong because the last SAC wasn't entered. I know I pretty much aced the exam because my revised study score is 50 and it's Methods; you don't get 50s without almost acing exams. The exam grade gives an indication of how your school as a cohort did in the subject and your SAC grades are modified to fit that. Your SAC rank determines the ranking of your scaled SAC score.

The OP has a similar conundrum to me, except on a slightly smaller scale.

I'm one of the people who had a problem with HHD

I was told by both HHD teachers that I was rank 1 with someone else for Unit 3 and 4 and I somehow got a B+ on the exam (I was shocked, I dropped about 3 marks this year and using suggested exam answers, worst case scenario I lost about 5 marks on the exam)
So my SACs remained A+, but my SS was <40. The other rank 1 got a 39 while rank 2 got a 40. No one else in my cohort got 40 or above.

What happened? Maybe rank 2 outperformed us on the exam but even then I find it hard to believe that my worst HHD result ever was on the exam...

Should I apply for an inspection of scripts?

Based on that, I'd go ahead with it. Sounds like you have reason to suspect something. No guarantees though
