Hey guys!

I was looking at the course application for internal transfers at Monash, and saw that it required you to attach your VCE transcripts and results to the form as well.

Do they actually pay alot of consideration to your atar though? I was just hoping to perform well in first year and transfer to Law possibly.

I guess I could mention my two categories in SEAS that impacted my results but there is no real space to write a personal statement. So is it generally ok if you have a HD-D average despite your atar being a possible sore point?

thanks again :)

For first year mid-year transfers, VCE results can have a pretty heavy weighting. However, after your first year of uni, VCE results become a lot more irrelevant.

Transferring into law at Monash is quite competitive. You'd need a pretty high GPA depending on what your ATAR was like. If mid-year transfers don't work out because of your VCE results, you can still try again at the end of the year. You'll want to aim for a HD average, ideally.

Best wishes.

I know this is kinda off topic, and I don't wanna derail this thread or anything; but Alter you've been on fire with these uni - help posts the last few days. Public appreciation post for being awesome. Thanks man.

Whilst I only have anecdotal evidence, it really seems that ATAR is not weighted any where near as heavily as your WAM when transferring mid year. My ATAR was like 18 short of the course that I transferred into and my WAM was only 2.5 higher than the minimum required but I had no problems at all (I even received additional offers for other courses that were similar to what I intended to transfer in).

Basically, what I am trying to say is that you should not be going into uni with the mindset that you need to get a WAM of 98 just to 'make up for' a low ATAR; a solid WAM will almost certainly suffice.
