m querying whether the people who did get a 50 didn't get a Premier's award and if so why (SACs/exam) or those who did if they got full marks. I'm aware that people who have got 50s for English are on AN.
Most of the people I've come across that didn't get Premier's, weren't awarded because of their exam. With top SAC marks (or great marks in a top cohort), 58/60 is enough for a 50 (I've also seen various cases of people getting 50 with 57/60 and a 56/60 once). To get Premier's in English, you typically need 60/60 on the exam and perfectly scaled SAC marks (or at least 99/100 in one unit and 100/100 in the other, considering most people who attain 45+ SS got perfect or near perfect scaled SAC marks). It has happened before, but it's rare for someone that got 60/60 on the exam and a 50 SS to not get Premiers. They were probably in a not so good cohort with a rank that wasn't top or their SAC marks weren't overly great in a top school.
But maybe the Premier's cut-offs will be slightly lower this year, as the A+ cut-off was 47/60 and the grade required for a 47+ SS wasn't as high as previous years (I was quite surprised with my SS after seeing my statement).
