Staying a Step Ahead: Preparing for the Reopening of School

The summer holidays are about to end in less than 1 week, and to many it is a dreadful thing.

Not being able to relax anymore, having to return back to school, finding your schedule all filled up to the brim, and all the free time you have taken for granted have all of the sudden snatched away.

The reopening of school is not a bad thing; it is just a time to get serious and back into business. However more often than not students find themselves stuck in the holiday mood when school starts, having a tough time picking up speed, which is something you want to avoid.

So for this post, I'll discuss some of things that can be done in the remaining days of the holiday to not only pick up momentum to get ahead, and make good use of the remaining days.

1) Start Planning for the Start of School
Now will be be a very good time to start preparing for school and plan what is coming ahead, and transition out of the holiday mood.

Being prepared and having an idea where to go next and what to do will go a long way to give you a good start in school. Besides, planning is a very important part in studying effectively.

When it comes to planing for the start of school, several things can be done; familiarize yourself with the syllabus, gathering the resources, coming out with an action plan and setting goals for yourself. The goal for planning is to get prepared and have an idea what the next step should be.

2) Start Incorporating Study into Your Days
As important as it is to plan for the start of school to get prepared, it is also equally important to not stuck in over planning and start incorporating studying into your days. In other words, don't just plan, EXECUTE!

If you have not been studying during the holidays and have lost touch with it; now is a good time to start getting back into it. There is no need to go full on and immerse yourself in it by studying 10 hours a day, just start off by 30 minutes a day. Doing so not only gets you back in touch with your studies, it also gives you some momentum for studying and cultivates good study habits.

It's much better to start early before school starts, rather than try to get up to speed when school starts. Not only will usually the learning pace in school pick up really quickly, it puts you ahead of those that slacked off during the holidays.

The goal is just to pace yourself, get prepared and pick up speed. Start early, and it will pay off heaps.

3) Enjoy your Remaining Days
Of course with the remaining days, the holidays ain't over so enjoy it, and also embrace the transition from holiday mood to full-on study mood.

If there are anything you wanted to do for holiday that you didn't get around doing, do it now! Such as visiting a beach and have a crazy outing with friends. Don't end the holiday with regrets of not really enjoying yourself, and welcome the start of school.

As long you have ambitions and goals, and work hard consistently towards it, you'll be amazed this time next year with what you've achieved 8)
