I'm starting year 11 this year and was interested in physics but now I'm freaking out because I just fully realised the workload/difficulty and am starting to regret choosing it.... I know the study design has changed but is 1/2 of physics really hard?

i live in WA so they changed the study design here to match the eastern states one when i was doing 1/2...im in yr 12 now. don't regret choosing it...i mean u obviously would have had some interest in the idea at the time of choosing. its not that hard and definitely very do-able. i had someone in my class who was averaging 100% throughout the first term..and then dropped (by like 1-2%- not a bigg drop haha) then went on to get 97% on the exam. Just study it up...know the content before you go into a test and ASK FOR HELP always. i'm not as good as that guy was with only a couple of 100%s here and there but i really enjoyed it...a lot. sometimes it can be a bit dry but other times it's really cool  :)

Nope physics is not as scary as you make out to be, give it a chance 8) It's definitely challenging, but really interesting and fascinating at the same time as well. Be proactive and keep learning new things, the more you understand physics, the more you'll love it.

As for the change in syllabus, the difficulty remains the same as before, you'll just be learning different things.

The good news with high school physics is that you're not going to see a lot of maths in it; as long you're able to solve equations, interpret graphs and understand geometry (especially trigonometry), you'll be fine. Of course feel free to ask questions here on AN, we have plenty of physics nerds around here to help you out :P

well..you are a common occurrence on the physics 3/4 questions board- a place i frequently visit to enhance
my appalling knowledge in the area of physics
