I'm starting year 11 this year and was interested in physics but now I'm freaking out because I just fully realised the workload/difficulty and am starting to regret choosing it.... I know the study design has changed but is 1/2 of physics really hard?
Nope physics is not as scary as you make out to be, give it a chance

It's definitely challenging, but really interesting and fascinating at the same time as well. Be proactive and keep learning new things, the more you understand physics, the more you'll love it.
As for the change in syllabus, the difficulty remains the same as before, you'll just be learning different things.
The good news with high school physics is that you're not going to see a lot of maths in it; as long you're able to solve equations, interpret graphs and understand geometry (especially trigonometry), you'll be fine. Of course feel free to ask questions here on AN, we have plenty of physics nerds around here to help you out
