Tbh I don't think it sounds that unsophisticated. HSC markers often don't like overly-flowery creatives and appreciate moments of simplicity. But if you want some ideas, here ya go:

'My mind wishes...'
'A voice within me wishes...'
'"Run! Right now while you can" was beating in my mind'

 :) Hope this helps

THANK YOU!

Hey guys,

Can someone please give me some quick feedback on this paragraph; it's the only one I'm not quite sure about.

-
Similarly, Lessing highlights the way in which the power of language moulds our understanding to connect to the humanity of others. Through kairos, Lessing uses the Nobel Prize ceremony as an opportunity for drawing attention to the global inequalities in educational opportunities. She sets a desolate reality against an optimistic vision of the world where the impoverished have access to education that empowers them, and the fortunate realise the influence of education to foster change. The asyndeton, “who have had years of education, to know nothing of the world, to have read nothing…” allows Lessing to confront the audience with the dichotomy that although westerners have access to education, they take it for granted, whilst those living in poverty “thirst” for an education. In doing so, Lessing accentuates her purpose in advocating for global access to education, a memorable concept that reverberates today as global inequality is ever present. The pathos of this image is strengthened through the anaphora of “no” in conjunction with cumulative listing in “no atlas...no textbooks”, reinforcing the essentiality of education and books for all. Thus, Lessing is effective in revealing prominent ideas on the role literature and imagination play in inspiring a future founded upon freedom and opportunity that permeate today.

Thankyou so much!!

Hello!
I just a had quick question

For paper1, section 1, the last question (either 5/6 marks) can you copy the same quotes, techniques, analysis and exactly what you wrote for the same text in the previous question (I mean like if you choose to do text 1 and 2 for the last question, can you copy your responses to those questions in the last question?)  but just chuck in some words for the question with the analysis. Or do you have to come up with something completely new?
thank you

Hey there,
You can definitely use your analyses from the previous questions and use them in the last question.

sorry 2 more questions;

1) is this correct the correct structure for the 5/6 marker?
intro with your take on the question and introduce both your texts.
body 1 on first text with 3x[technique, quote, analysis, link to question]
body 2 on second text with 3x[technique, quote, analysis, link to question]

2) I heard from past students that for the short answer section of paper 1, our topic sentence/approach the question can be a sentence from the rubric with some words from the question combined. And they also said that our topic sentences for our essay can also be a statement from the rubric. is this true?

Hey, 3.14159265359.

1) There is no "correct" way in structuring your response; keep in mind that your focus should be on how the specific concept of discovery is highlighted in the two/three/how ever many texts of your choosing! :)

Structurally, I would say that seems like a good amount for a 5/6 marker but you should never forget the premise of the question when you're answering it! :)

2) I would personally avoid restating parts of the rubric, and that's mainly because it doesn't add a lot of insight into your discussion. Time is limited, so you need to make as much use of your time as you can! Instead of reframing a phrase from the rubric, use your own insight about discovery and draw some discussion into the question! That way, you're hitting all of the main areas of the question.

Good luck with English on Thursday! :)

It's all good :P I did! So I'm happy :)

Yep! I felt super nervous around this time as well, but just keep doing what you're doing and you'll get there. You still have days to prepare for English and your other subjects. Perhaps though, it might be best that you start prioritising what areas to focus more on? Entirely up to you and how you feel about your own preparation :)

Thankyou so much!!

I think your paragraph is great to be honest! I really like your style of writing and your ideas are well developed (I'm doing speeches as well and this actually helped me to better understand the types of concepts for mod B and how to integrate rhetoric, so thanks haha)
The only thing I would consider is that you have only used 2 quote, but you have multiple techniques for each quote so I think it would be ok. Maybe someone else can give some more constructuve criticism, but I think it's great  :)

Since you are also doing speeches, I'm kind of struggling with Atwood's, do you have any tips?

Hi, I have encountered this question for Mod C (representing people and politics) and I'm not sure if I am grasping it correctly:

It is politics that shapes the individual, the individual does not shape politics. Evaluate this statement with detailed reference to your prescribed text and at least ONE other related text of your own choosing.

I am confused as to how I should define 'shape'.
Thanks! :)
