Monash cut off

Hello forum users!

To my knowledge the bachelor of law has a clearly in of 98 (atar). I have not heard from a reliable source that you can get in with anything lower.

Can anyone clarify if the 98 is in essence a clear cut off or if people can still get in with a sub 98, ideally elaborate on what, e.g 97.5

Thanks everyone.

Clearly-in set at 98 most years however if you're eligible for Monash Guarantee then a 94 will also net you a place in Law too :)
Anything below that then chances are pretty unlikely (likewise an ATAR below 98 and not eligible for Monash Guarantee).

Hope that helps!

I got slightly below 98 and got an offer for comm/law @ Monash in the second round. I probably would have got it in the first round tbh, if actuarial @UoM wasn't my first pref.

Thanks everyone for the clarification. So for the Monash guarantee if my school is on the list then a 94 is definite? In essence a lowered clearly in?

I got the Monash Gurantee (didnt end up needing it) But basically before two weeks of getting your atar you will get an email saying that you are successful in receiving it. Once you get that email inside it it will say that it is definite and that all you need to do on December the 14th is get (in this case) 94.

Yes. Also, you know your clearly-in ahead of time, which is a fucking beauty.

sorry for jumping in out of nowhere haha  :), but do they select people for the guarantee randomly or is there a system of preference (ie, the more under-represented schools get a higher level of consideration for it)? just curious as im also applying later in the year  :)

I'm quite sure there is a list of eligible schools that qualify for the Monash guarantee. I'm sure someone will shed more light.

I think they are all viewed the same. You can view them here: http://www.study.monash/how-to-apply/special-admissions/special-entry-access-scheme/under-represented-schools#VIC
Keep in mind that going to an underpresented will not guarantee you a spot into the Monash Guaratee, rather you will be eligible for seas 'points'. To find out how much points you will get towards seas plug your circumstances into here: http://www.monash.edu/seas/

You can also qualify for the Monash guarantee if you are financially disadvantaged (if you or your family are on Centerlink payments, you qualify automatically) or are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander descent. If you google "Monash guarantee", an information site should be the first hit.
