1. Refine the prompt into a topic or question in your own words which is more manageable. From here, it might already make things a lot easier.
2. Well, get your ideas together next. These don't have to be related to your text in any way; just simply gather your ideas or opinions regarding the prompt.
3. Now decide on what text type you want. The general idea is that if you have a single main idea only, go for persuasive. If you've got multiple, go for expository.
4. Now link your evidence to your respective points. This can be quite hard, but what I tend to do is think chronologically through the events of my text and see if there's any events which seem to have some connection. Also, remember to think of other examples from other sources such as movies and such. In the worst case, my favourite way was to make up research studies by The University of [insertrandomamericanstatehere].

...and lastly,

5. Make sure you proof-read.

I'm assuming and hoping she meant, what do you do in the exam if you've got no idea what to write about the prompt.

oh okay, haha, that makes more sense

You know what though Dreamz, don't worry! This context idea is great, it allows so much flexibility, not like a text response. To be honest, i reckon you could write SOMETHING great without even having read your set texts, and just maybe reading some stuff on the net about it.

And also, 70% of the time prompts you have done in ur SACS would be perfectly relevant for the one set on the exam, because identity and belonging all interwine.

Honestly, I'd be more scared of this happening in text response. Context is just so broad in one sense (so that you can skew the topic any way you want a lot of the time), yet still be so confined to the same topics each time in another (paradoxical, I know) that it's unlikely to happen. You'll begin to realise once you do exams. If you're doing expositories, what tends to happen is that your body paragraphs sound exactly the same every time, and you're just changing the topic and end sentences.

So Shinny, what IF this happens in a text response? What's the best "plan of attack" per se? God I'm hoping it doesn't happen............. :|But what if?
When I get sad, I stop being sad, and be AWESOME instead. True story.
