tips to improve expression?

I want to do well in English this year, but I am losing marks due to my expression. I have no idea what this means and am being constantly told to say what I wrote in my head, but it isn't working. Is there any other way to fix it?

Expression is, in plain language, how you say things.

For example, "being constantly told to say what I wrote in my head" is ambiguous, as the way you've structured the question means that you wrote something in your head, and you probably meant you should have written whatever was in your head (or the teacher asked you to say what you had in your head at the time you wrote the sentence).

To combat this, identify where your expression becomes ambiguous then change it so that it does make sense even if the sentence made sense to you when you typed/wrote/thought of it. If that is impossible for you to do (for whatever reason), watch what words you choose and how you order them. You might need to switch a few parts of a sentence, or even switch out words, to make it work.

I have the same problem. I've found that reading a lot helps.... but unfortunately, we don't have much time to read for fun this year...
