Further maths or history easier?

Subject selections coming up soon.
Was planning to knock off a 3/4 in year 11. This would be between either Australian history and further maths.

Which would be easier?

If I do history 3/4 in yr11, then I'll do further 1/2 and 3/4 and if I do further 3/4 in yr11 then I'll do 1/2 and 3/4 history..

Thanks

History is more content heavy so I think it would be best to do it in Year 11 where you have a bit more time. As to which one is easier though, I'd argue history but I'm bad at maths ::)

yeah I'd suggest picking whatever you find harder/more time-consuming in year 11
i did further in year 12 (instead of chinese, which I am shit at & has a high workload) so I could focus more on other subjects and not have to worry about chinese

2014: Chinese SL
2015: Further [50, Premier's], Specialist, Methods, Accounting,English
ATAR: 99.40

I'd argue Further, but I'm bad at History. I think the contrast between my post and Coffee's is pretty telling, though - 'ease' is very subjective, and will depend largely on what you're good at (and arguably more importantly, what you enjoy). So what are you good at? What do you enjoy?

You certainly don't need Further 1/2 to do Further 3/4. Is History 1/2 recommended or useful for History 3/4 (genuine question - I have no idea)? Perhaps that could be a further consideration.

What are your other subjects going to be? :)

Other subjects are methods, English, economics, accounting..

Like history heaps and would probably do alright in both.. Just not sure which has a bigger workload or is harder overall

If you like History more, I'd go with History.

I did both history and further. If you understand a further concept then its good because you can get straight into exam revision. I glanced over the further concepts, did minimal work, just did a hell of alot of practice exams and the exam was relatively easy. However for history, its different. Its more so remembering stuff than actually understanding a concept and applying it. To illustrate i started practicing further exams in term 3 holidays. While for history i was still learning content into the last weeks of unit 4.

However, if you enjoy one over the other i would definitely argue for you to pick it. I did the same amount of work for history and economics (questions, prac exams), i enjoyed history soooo much more and my study score for history ended up being 11 higher than that of economics. I enjoyed history to the extent where reading the textbook was more for enjoyment rather than homework. If you are like me, i would highly suggest you to pick it then :)

The content might be easy but to get a high study score it isnt so easy. Alot of people score very well in further, and since its not about the mark you get, but your rank in vce, its hard to score high because so many people score really well.

If you work hard then you will definitely do well. I got kicked out of methods and refused entry into spec so i am not the best maths student haha.

I did do over 30 practice exams and that was probably the sole reason why i got above 40 in further. Im pretty sure i surprised my ex methods teacher who also taught me further in year 11. I averaged around 60-70% in year 11 further.

Honestly, if you work hard in any subject, a 40 isnt so distant anymore. Obviously, we all have our strengths and weakeness, if i studied chinese i wouldnt score as near as someone who spoke it at their home, thats languages, but for humanities, sciences and maths, hard work will yield you good results.

Also coz further is one of the most populated subjects - a large number of people get 40+
If you're a maths person, you can spend 1/8th of the time you spend on methods as you do on further and get around the similar score.
The content is simple - there's not much they can ask.
Further is considered easy because it pays dividends.
You put in the work - you get the mark.
There's a strong correlation with work and mark, unlike some other subjects such as methods where the correlation is weaker. - putting in the work wont necessarily guarantee you any mark, whereas Further you can find some kind of comfort in your work (Just used a concept in further to explain if further was easy lmao im actually really proud of that)
Fuck you english your eyebrows aren't even good

Do history in year 11 as it has more content.

Also since you enjoy it more.
