You need to make a timetable and start following it. And not be unrealistic - put in breaks.

Unplug your internet cable and everything if you have to. Also if home is a poor work environment then do your study elsewhere. There are heaps of strategies you need to implement if you want to take out the negativity.

thankyou! i'll try I out :)

I don't tend to follow timetables but rather do: 40 mins a day is dedicated to this, 40 minutes a day is dedicated to that, etc, etc

Oh, I didn't think of this idea. Silly me. Thanks, but the thing is if I need to go to ATARNOTES urgently and ask someone a question then how would I do that (if I have no internet)

The very moment I plug my internet cord/turn the wifi back on, I go into procrastination mode on ATARNOTES again. RIP me

Moderator action: Removed duplicate question from this post (same thing was asked above). Wait for it to be answered. Emphasising the question in capital letters will not result in an answer any quicker.

yess, the 40 minute thing sounds a bit like the pomodora/tomato timer thingy! i'll check it out! thanks :D
but I also just thought, perhaps if I broke the syllabus up and did say notes for one critical question a night, i'll be done in no time! thankyou everyone :)

At the end of the day, you have to find the studying techniques that best work for you. Good luck

To make the most out of these forums, it's best for you to ask questions you are struggling with or ask any questions related to uni and/or HSC courses?

Also try to help others when you can because this will benefit you as well. Also ask for study techniques and which are the most effective

You could also have other conversations related to school such as programs you can use to stop distractions (please check the previous page)

Anyways, have fun exploring this forum and don't be shy (i.e. don't be afraid to ask questions no matter how stupid they may seem. Everyone's friendly and willing to help here)

ATARnotes is without doubt, the best HSC forum out there. Not many disputes occur here at all (in fact I've never seen any happening within my last month of being here on this forum)

By the way, we need to have a section in ATARNotes for uni students as well, not just for high school students. That way ATARnotes becomes bigger and better

Do you study enough at all?[/size]

Seriously?? How does one know that one is not studying enough at all and even if they did what is the time to study enough? How much study is not enough study? How much study is too much? How much study do you do? It changes for every person. Some people do 3 hours a night and still bomb out and are unable to remember content. Some people study an hour or two a week and can ace the HSC.
Just my very opinionated view on life :) Not trying to rustle up anyones feathers, but people have different study patterns..

Yes I know, it's rather the quality of the study (i.e. how you study) rather than how many hours you study a week? Too much will overload your brain, too little will not help retain memory

I took 2 nights off a week, and slept in on Sundays, and worked 20ish hours a week, and Youtube'd a tad too much, it worked okay for me I think  ;)

I think it's important to take time off to be honest! If you work every day for 2 years then you'll be absolutely buggered by the HSC, I know plenty of people who burnt out that way   :P

I thought usually people would take off 1 day/night off a week. Working 20 hours a week? On weekends or what? Couldn't you of had just worked in the holidays and only the holidays?

Did you use your school holidays at all effectively Jamon?

Yeah true.

By the way guys, the moderator application forms have come out. Who do you think is a suitable candidate for an NSW moderator position?

Usually one big shift on Sunday and the rest dotted elsewhere  ;D I could have, but I wanted to buy a car, and I wanted to take my girlfriend out to dinner, and buy myself things I liked. Plus, having a part time job is massively beneficial, it's one of the reasons I believe I got my Coop scholarship, going into uni with 4.5 years work experience looks great, and it teaches commitment, organisation, all those soft skills  ;D the hours I put in were well worth it, and it didn't impact my mark too much I don't think  ;D

(I massively recommend any Year 10/11's reading this that you should consider working in your final years of school. Great for a heap of reasons)

My holidays were used effectively, took extra shifts at work, slept in, and did a lot of study (especially in the September holidays before HSC). I was a busy lad ;D

I'm staying out of suggestions for the NSW Moderator applications, I want all of you guys to suggest the people you think would be great for the job   ;D
