I know that Jamon and Elyse (two of the moderators on this forum) have previously done Studies of Religion, however at present they are busy managing/hosting the lectures (or actually speaking right now).

What exactly are they lecturing about and how often do they occur?

There have been hundreds of advertisements, even at the top of this forum about their free lectures on tips and tricks for the upcoming trial and HSC exams.

How often? These are for free. And they get offered the venue for free. They will definitely not be often.

Yo can someone clarify the difference between prelim and hsc?
Is prelim the year before hsc?

and can you guys do your year 12 subjects in earlier years? Is this common practice as it is in vce?

Answer to Q1: Yes. And your Yr 11 preliminary marks do NOT count towards your Yr 12 HSC marks.

Answer to Q2: This is called acceleration - doing years ahead of your age/cohort. It is offered by some (certain) schools and can be deemed as occasional.

Basically preliminary is a year which gets you into the habit of the HSC. It is an indicator of your performance in the HSC as well as a year to learn all your mistakes from so then you don't make the same mistakes again

There is another thing called "pathways" (not 100% sure what it is) and also "a compressed/vertical curriculum" (not many schools in NSW offer this to my knowledge). Basically it's prelim and HSC in one year and you do 3 subjects one year 3 subjects the other. Also if you were to spend 4 days a week on average in a subject, then with a compressed curriculum it becomes double (i.e. 8 days a week)

Yeah.

If someone has a question on pathways then they should post it as its own comment cause pathways vary for different courses.

Wait, so is Pathways the same thing as a compressed/vertical curriculum or what? I'm so confused

This is what I'm talking about

Oh that lol. Nope.

Pathways I really just interpret as what you can study from studying something else in a previous year. The basic example would be cause you studied MX1 in prelim, you can drop down, stay at the same level, or pick up MX2.

Well to prevent confusion pathways are really ways in which you can take the HSC all at your own convienience. From memory, they are repeating, accumulation, acceleration and there was one more which I forgot
