Hi Grace,

I'm in a similar position at the moment. I've been doing a few MAV exams lately which are quite challenging (in a good way) as well as Neap, however I tend to prefer MAV.  :)

I'd start practice exams,. but dont go overboard coz you will burn out (esp coz its further the subject is easy so the exams arent really that stimulating)
You'd want to peak around term 3 holidays in terms of exams and exam performance, so in the couple weeks leading up to the exam you can chill :)

I hear that you should be spamming practice exams, but leaving the best till last. I'm not sure if this is true though.

Just curious, what modules did you do and how did you find them (esp. Recursion and Financial Modelling)?

Ta!

I don't even do further but great job!! If you have neap or MAV try to complete one a week. That way you retain the information and feel challenged. I say that because you want to space out you revision since you have so much time (you don't have to blitz).

But if you feel like you want more practice, get two done a week. Start without timed sessions and then as term 3 goes on start timing. By the time it's term 3 holidays you can do the latest VCAA exams undertime.
Hope I helped :)

I'd recommend doing VCAA first, to understand what the actual exam will entail (so when you do company papers you can tell the difference between bullshit questions and legitimate questions - coz company papers are really flawed)
Then do the vcaa exams once again in swotvac :) - do wahtever papers you can get your hand on in between.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I'm hoping to leave VCAA until last Swagadaktal but were there any dramatic changes to the study design that I should be aware of?

Yeah your choice - I did vcaa first and last (so twice) and it worked for me, a lot of people leave it till the end. I just like doing it first so that it informs me of what to expect and how to tell when a company paper is dodgy.

From what I know the SD is the same, just a slight change in compulsory topics... Can someone confirm?

Not doing further rn but my teacher liked to vent her frustrations about the VCAA to me. The old Core (statistics) was merged with module 3(?), Financial/business mathematics, and I think some stuff was added to bridge the gap between the topics maybe. Geo/Trig introduced radians (or so I was told) but otherwise I think most things stayed the same.

No - radians were NOT introduced; but latitude and longitude were.
Log scales are new to the Core.
Financial modelling is a new take on the old business maths course with a specified process of Recursion. While new to finances, this is similar to difference equations from Number in the past. Amortisation tables are new.
Significant figures also seem to be new.

Right, thanks for clearing that up. My mistake :)

Those bastards trick you on the first question  ;D

I found that they were useful to deal with tricky questions.

Try it out and see for yourself. Each company has their strengths and weaknesses. Generally speaking, the big companies (the one you've heard about) have a good number of questions. Neap is generally reliable - a bit on the tougher side. They could get you to do some pretty senseless questions.
