Anyone have any experience getting reference letters from staff members? I am applying to transfer from melbourne uni to some other place and they require me to provide reference letter from a staff member. What's the process? Do I have to know them personally/be close with him/her in order to get a reference letter?

generally your best bet is to ask old/current tutors for one. just be talkative in class and do your homework and you will most likely get a shining review, as tutors are generally other students in the same boat as you. sometimes lecturers for past subjects will do references for students who completed their course or got a certain grade but it will more likely be a standardised thing

good luck
