For the contrast question, i said how whales that are alive are contrasted with whales being dead, like how the character goes "big ribs" to "helpless"... i was too stressed to think of any other "contrast" haha
What'd you guys write for Text 4?

I felt as if it was a fair test (but maybe because that's subjective). Essay question was general enough, although could prove troublesome for some core texts (and phew about no two relateds haha), creative stimulus was hard, but if there was time it should have been semi-adaptable for most people. Comprehension was the hardest part, and was a little rude not to give a visual text, but overall the texts weren't overly difficult to understand and had clear techniques.

Goodness I completely agree with you!! Comprehension, was tricky indeed. As soon as reading time started I was like, 'Is it just me or did I not see a visual text and some damn long written ones instead??!?!?" I just hope I wrote enough relevant techniques. Almost ran out of time with the last question :[

Well this has made me feel more confident thanks Elyse!! super fast too

Thoughts:
The whales story did not sit well with me but I agree Elyse, i quite enjoyed the poem and thus used it for the 6 marker
Creative writing forced me to change my setting (ugh) but I got through
And the essay was fine, I focused on the process of discovery from the impetus of it through to the responses :):)

I mentioned the contrast between his initial thought of being "afraid" and later stating "It feels soothing being pressed down by a weight...." Hopefully on the right track.

Hello! I used the stimulus only as a metaphor for the protagonist's workplace (the key location), is that acceptable?

Hi guys.
With the boy in the museum, I remember saying something about how the skyscraper was contrasted with him and it intimidated him. I used personification cause it said something about the skyscrape pushing him down? but yeah I wrote that was how contrast was used. And I wrote something about how in his idea (second last paragraph), he felt clearer after rising to the surface from the water because in the water he felt like he couldn't breathe. I basically talked about the contrast with him being in the water vs being outside.

I really was nervous and could not think straight so these might not make much sense but does anyone think it looks okay and makes sense?
Can't stop thinking about it  :-\

I used the personification of the building too! I contrasted the child's own sense of self to the sheer size of the buildings, which somehow led to the significance of discoveries haha...

That creative stimulus and essay were total opposites to what I prepared - I guess we can only wait til results come out, no point stressing about it now eep! Onwards and upwards !

I was half-way through my answer with 60 seconds left then i realised that the question said "... childs discoveries in the museum", what i was writing was not in the museum so i had to completely change my answer... you can imagine how much i panicked

Well technically everything he discovered was in the museum though. Even when he was imagining himself to be in the ocean or whatever.

I used the contrast between the child and the whale, the simile about the bones being like logs or something, and then I used the contrast between how her discovery allowed her to be exposed to a new world, like contrasting the wires and stuff with her swimming with the whale. It was pretty unusual

aside from reading, i managed to find a way to incorporate the image into my creative by making it the setting of the funeral (Elyse hopefully you understand what I'm talking about) and used it again for the ending by having them read together near the tree. As for my AOS essay i managed to finish my essay but i may have written my paragraphs as a page long rather than making paragraphs (which I'm sure the markers will kill me for). I remembered most of my quotes. Overall not really looking forward to paper 2

Looked without seeing looks a bit like an idiom. But many quotes carry multiple techniques on them.
