The Pompeii section was pretty good, it wasn't too challenging imo. Loved the question on the role of women!! And the last question straight out of the syllabus. awesome

They tried to throw in some doozies in the Sparta and Alexander section. I think they were manageable. Greek World 500-440BC question was fairly straight forward.

Although I think I messed up quite a bit in the last two sections with my sources. Didn't have enough evidence to back up my points and I couldn't remember who said what, couple this with an unexpected bout of stomach pains = rushed response.

My school assessment mark (or whatever you call it, I don't understand the raw/aligned/weighted mark thing) is around 93ish. I think I did enough in the exam to get at least 80/100. I'm also first in the internal rankings and most of my class left the exam after 1hr, or whatever the minimum requirement is. Hopefully I can still get at least a high band 5  :P

I thought was a really good paper! I know I got a multiple choice wrong haha but oh well, damn you source D >:(
But yeah the Julio-Claudian questions were good, part a for Agrippina was a little tricky but doable and part b was the same as always haha. Some of the shorter sparta questions were hard, but the long response one was perfect!
Yeah overall pretty happy with that one :) Congratulations everyone else for finishing Ancient! I'm sure you all did fab <3

Haha I'm not 100% sure if this is the one you're referring to, but there was one multiple choice about a fresco (or whatever it was) with a group of women, I think the correct answer was Dionysus :(

Yeah thats the one haha. I put Augustus cos I had no idea. That's what annoys me about ancient because a lot of the time if you haven't seen or studied that particular source before there no way to answer it. But oh well thats just one mark not much to be upset over :)

Does anybody remember any questions? Particularly from P/H? :)
I cant remember the exact wording but here were some of them:

1. Where would Source A (the little statue) be found? Pretty sure the answer was in a house.
2. What does Source B (Julia Felix's ad) show? And then there was a true and false thingy with 2 statements but I can't remember what they said. Pretty sure the answer was statement I is correct and statement II is false
3. What does Source C (the floorplan of the forum) demonstrate. I think the answer had something to do with the Temple of Apollo
4. What cult is represented in Source D? The options were the cult of Apollo, Augustus, Isis and Dionysus and pretty sure Dionysus (sadly for me haha) was the answer
5. What products in Pompeii and Herculaneum were produced by the natural resources discussed in Source E? Pretty sure the answer was wine, garum and perfume.
END OF MC
6. why were public buildings important?
7. Role of women in pompeii and herculaneum.
8. Contributions of new research and technology to our understanding of the past :)

Then the agrippina questions were:
a) describe her marriages
b) changing images

Julio-Claudians
a) Political role of the praetorian guard
b) expansion and consolidation of the Empire

Sparta
a) privledges of the two kings
b) Importance of the Hyakinthia
c) Main features of Spartan myths and legends
d) What does evidence reveal about the structure of Spartan society?

Hope this helped :)

i did the same :((( i thought it was the cult of Isis because of the women :((
Yeah most people I know didn't get that question, so I think it should be fine :)

For 1 and 2 I had the same answer
But I wrote wine, garum and oil for 5 :( crappp. didn't pay attention to the source!
For the Dionysus question, it was the first time I had ever seen that fresco in my life and I also associated the women with the cult of Isis

It may have been that! I am just basing it off my answers and HSC discussion page. I said it was perfume cos they mentioned flowers, garum cos of the seas and wine cos of the vines, but I know other people who put oil as well so don't be disheartened :)

Same. I basically just did one big paragraph for both Ahenobarbus and Crispinus together and just spoke about how they were rich and politically influential and gave her an insight into how to manipulate the system, mentioned nero being Ahenobarbus' son as well, and then another big paragraph on Claudius

Sounds like a couple contentious multiple choice questions... but glad you all sound fairly happy with how you went!
