Can someone PLEASE put my mind at ease I actually can't study thinking about it, I wasn't really sure if Tush meant yes consequentials are given to subsequent parts of questions. I will be specific about the error I made:
In the determination of the number of mole of CO2 volume question part a., I was out by a factor of exactly 10 because I divided the percentage by 1000 instead of 100... Very stupid..... :-[. I've checked against Tush's answer and it seems that the only error I made was the factor of 10 in part a. Therefore my part c answer was off (0.0997 instead of 0.097). Will the examiners notice this error clearly and award consequential marks for part c. Given that part a. was incorrect clearly only due to a "small" error? Thank you all. I just need to know this so I can rest.

I reckon they should award you consequential because your method is correct, and it was unfortunate that you made the small mistake in part a. Unless they are super harsh, but even then, you get 2 examiners, right? So pretty sure you'll be ok.

I know I made some small mistakes in Spesh yesterday too and like pretty suicidal after lol cos it was probably my best subject where I could've attained 50 with the most chance in, apart from English. I end up dropping 4-5 in total (all tech active) i'm pretty sure. But then again, we can't really do anything about it now, so if you have any more exams, (which I don't see why you would study otherwise lol) I guess just concentrate on them, and do your best :)

I mean it would be pretty unfair to give me 0/5 for a and c where I was actually able to do all the calculations, which would put me on the same score for that question for someone who didnt even attempt it...just seems fair to me to give me at least 3/5. (1 lost for each incorrect answer)

Yeah definitely, I wouldn't worry too much about this, at the end of the day, VCAA would like to see you do well, and even if they do penalise, they would have to be SUPER harsh. The previous comments mentioned that apparently someone said that Thushan said that they award consequential, and if theres anyone you should trust, would be him.

I hope to dear god you are correct. This could mean the difference between my spot in Dentistry or not. Hence why I am so anxious.

Hey dude, I can relate - happened to me too (except I dropped about 2-3), don't let that get to you!

As for the consequentials - Mellyboo - you should get the same answer for part b) so full marks, and if you used your answer from part a to get your answer for part c, you should get full marks on that part. So in total you should get 4-5/6 I think.

How many marks can you possibly lose for a 45+ if your sac scores are pretty high

Not sure about the validity of this, but from different people I've heard that -10 marks is 45

You don't lose marks for using pencil, dw!

Yup - it's just in a different thread. Click on "Chemistry Exam Discussion" in the blue links just above the posts, and you should see it.

Depends on the exam and the year. In 2013, where the exam was on the harder side, a 114.5/120 was a 50. In 2015, where the exam was easier, a 113.5/120 was a 45.

Hey Thushan, how many do you think on could drop for a 50 this year? I think I dropped 2-3 and had number one SAC ranking for both units. Thanks in advance

Given the MS data, I'd say its safe to say there is one peak which indicates 1,2-diaminoethane. Two peaks could mean the 1,1-diamino isomer is present (although the peaks would be a lot further separated), contaminant or solvent peak shift.
