Found it okay overall, but nonetheless  a little difficult to work with since 1) was not expecting a written text for section B and 2) with the essay section there was no identity question (the type of q most people were probably hoping for) or political correctness/euphemisms which were my main strengths.

Short answer was pretty straightforward though.

Yeah it was an interesting exam. I personally found short answer a bit tough because I stumbled on question 1 with trying to understand the purposes and linking it to register, as well as q2 which I thought was a weird one about asking proper nouns etc. Apart from that, ac was ok except I was pushed for time. And the essay was alright, but heard a lot of people were disappointed with not having an identity related topic.

I found section A hardish, because of the proper noun question which really threw me..

Also the essay topics were so unexpected!! I was almost certain there would be atleast 1 general question on language + identity and/or taboo/PC/social harmony.. But alas I was forced to write about jargon lol.

Overall I thought it was thrown into the deep end and forced to bullshit which wasn't my plan!

I found sections A and B to be alright, wasn't expecting the commentary text to be so short and the short answer one so long though.
Those essays though....didn't like any of the topics. Had about 8 media examples memorised, none of which fit with any of the questions. So I ended tackling the first question with no real examples. Easily the worst thing I've written all year. Strangely though it doesn't really seem to bother me, probably because I hate english as a subject in general.

same thing happened to me! I used every single stimulus for the jargon essay in an attempt to  bulk it up but only 1 example from my own head.. I think the examiners might think i was underprepared but i just was thrown into a topic i didn't think I would base an entire essay on.

Legit relating to fkn all of this on a spiritual level. I prepared for section a and b the other way round (spoken ac) and the essay topics really threw me. Why specifically jargon omg there was so much more to talk about with just euphemism or sth :( I chucked in every stimulus too. I actually struggled most in question 1 on SA with the discourse features :/

EITHER WAY IT'S OVER AND I HATED ENGLISH ANYWAY 😊
