Hey icecream! Can't comment on the notes, but $100 does sound pretty steep. ATAR Notes sells them for $25; maybe try and find someone who has a copy and ask for a sneak peak, see if it is for you?

As for a tutor though, I think it depends on the sort of learner you are. If you understand everything and just like to practice loads of questions, perhaps not as worth it as it would be for someone who is really struggling with the content and needs someone to step them through the tough stuff. That said, a good tutor will be useful no matter what skill level you are, but I suppose it is cost vs benefit! Tutors aren't for everyone :)

The online store of ATARNotes gives you a preview of the first few pages as well, if that's of any help~ http://atarnotes.com/product/vce-psychology-notes/

Also, if my two cents is of any worth, I've bought Physics notes from here (I'm from NSW doing HSC) and they're really nice: cover all the content, and explain things really well (Saved me many times for exams - thanks Jamon  :P ). I've also bought Mathematics and Mathematics Extension 1 notes form ATARNotes which were very useful if I didn't understand a topic/ process/ method or sometimes to confirm my knowledge of a topic (although honestly, I didn't use the Maths ones as much as Physics because I found that for me this was more of a practical subject - i.e I did lots of practice papers rather than worrying too much about notes. But this is just a personal thing; I know a few people studied a lot using notes for maths). But basically, I'd assume the quality is consistent across all the notes ATARNotes provide.

e.g. does it word info better than the grivas textbook

Also, (maybe i'm interpreting the tone wrong), but even if your notes are better than the textbook, notes should only be used as a supplement to your knowledge i.e revision on points you find hard to understand or have forgotten/ from a long time ago. So make sure you're not using notes as a replacement for a textbook, unless whatever you're doing/ learning in class is substantial enough to support the knowledge you would have learnt from a textbook.

Hey there, icecream52. ;D

I've personally never been to a lecture run by those organisations you've mentioned, but I'm pretty opposed to spending that much on notes. I mean, thinking about it, you already have the textbook (from what you've said), and there are lots of low-cost or even free resources floating around for Psych.

I'm certainly not denigrating the quality of those notes, because I'm sure they're great, but it just seems very steep to me. If you do that for five subjects, that's half a grand just on notes further to textbooks and whatever else.

Just my two cents, but I think the money could be better spent; you certainly don't need those notes to do well! :)

All the best.

I got through year 12 with no tutoring, no lectures, and no paid resources aside from our required textbooks.  There's *so* much free stuff on the internet if you look for it (especially here on AN (notes, forum resources and the ability to ask questions!) and Engage's Wiki, and Wikipedia/Youtube) that there's simply no need or point wasting money on these things imo - I've even seen people perform worse because they think they're all set up with a million fancy notes and then don't work as hard.

I'd defs recommend AN's lecture notes ahead of other companies, though, for value to price ratio.  (I'm not financially involved in AN in the slightest).

Last year i went to the TSFX lecture for hhd and further math. I personally didn't find the notes that great, and deffs would not spend $100 on them. I actually didn't even use the further notes while studying because they weren't that good (IMO!)
For hhd i did go to the health teachers lecture as well which was run by the author of the hhd textbook that my school didn't use, so i found those notes were pretty good because they used alternative language and examples. But seriously, it's just a condensed version of your text book.. If you spent time creating your own notes it would probably be better for you in terms of memory (depending how you learn of course) and be of equal quality.

But yeah, just my opinion.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
