methods exam 2

Anyone got any idea of how many students get 80/80 in exam 2, because for some reason, vcaa doesn't realease mark ranges for exam 2. They did it from 2006-2010, and then stopped. Like why would they stop disclosing mark ranges.

Unfortunately the closest approximation we have is the graded distributions from 2015 (pretty sure 2016's haven't been released yet), but we can make an educated guess using the normal distribution (which you'll learn how to do in methods eventually). Not gonna bother with the working out bc tbh I just threw in into my calculator but:

~2.3035% of students are expected to get a perfect mark. Based on the graded distribution from 2015 there were 16,308 students who participated in exam 2, so that works out to about 375 students with perfect marks. In reality it was probably a bit less than that because the distribution is skewed.

The grade distributions are ridiculously inaccurate for the upper and lower limits. People have 50'd methods whilst dropping 2 marks (i know someone who thought they dropped 3 and ended up with a 50, most likely marked down as losing 2). Roughly 30 get a 50 from 16000 so the amount who 80/80 exam 2 would by my estimate be less than 10(dodgy estimate though) but definitely less than 30. Also people full marking both would be obviously much less.

Yeah you're right, my bad. Redoing the calculation using PDF instead of CDF gave a much more reasonable answer of 23. ::)
