Mechanics: Deriving Circular Motion Equations

Hi,

In projectile motion you need to derive the functions for vertical and horizontal displacement if you wish to use them in a question, unless otherwise stated by the question. In circular motion, must you derive the linear/tangential velocity and forces on the body before you wish to use them i.e. can't quote centripetal force is mrw^2?

Those formulae are not easy to derive. If you're required to derive them you will be told to (there was one year in the HSC where they did). But you can assume them.

I have a small formula sheet in my Ext 2 notes (the book). Whatever formulae is stated there is quotable
