Hey Jamon,

For a really good essay on legal studies (ie, crime, shelter and family) how would you lay the essay out? Do you have any scaffolds?

Thanks for doing this! :)

Why did you choose electrical engineering?

It's actually a really funny story - I originally wanted to be a Civil Engineer. Was all set, had preferences down, etc. Then I went to a Civil Engineering lecture at one of the Uni Open Days, and he was talking about soil, and water, and other incredibly boring things (no offence to any civil engineers). I couldn't even sit through it, I left halfway through looking like a lost puppy. I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life at that point, ahaha! Then what happened to be next door, Electrical Engineering...

The rest is history ;) like, I should have picked it from the get go, it is perfect for me. I love technology, I love Maths, I love solving problems and being on the frontiers of knowledge. So it was the right choice. The way I got there was just a bit... Lucky ;)

Have you ever been banned on Club Penguin?

Spoiler
Nope, unfortunately not ;) but pretty sure someone else doing a Q+A this weekend might have something to share there ;)

Hey, i was just wondering if you had any tips on revising large quantities of information. Like biology and business content are my weak points because the amount of info is overwhelming.

Hi Jamon,
For the Crime question, I want to have a few broad topics up my sleeve to be able to answer a majority of questions with the same content. What topics do you think are the most versatile to use?

May I know some study tips,  how to focus and some techniques before exam. For preparation
Thank u

Hey! Welcome to the forums! ;D super broad questions, I could go on for days, umm...

Study tips? Find what works for you. There is a big list of different ways to study here, what is important to know is that everyone works differently. We al have different styles. Do what makes sense to you and what gets the stuff in YOUR brain. The only thing you must be doing is practicing - Doing practice exams, practice responses (etc) is absolutely crucial ;D

Focus is a tricky thing because I never had a lot of trouble with it in my HSC (I have a heap of trouble with it now at uni, funnily enough). I think routine is helpful here. If you know exactly what you are doing and why you are doing it, that goes a long way towards keeping you on task. A study timetable would be useful here - I had one I followed quite closely, and for me, knowing exactly what I needed to do that day really helped me avoid procrastinating. Oh, and take breaks!! Hard to focus when you aren't rested :)

Right before an exam, do light study. Read notes, read papers, chat to friends about content - Nothing intensive, do the super intensive practice and stuff earlier and keep things chilled the night and morning before. Avoid people who will stress you out. And stay positive! Positivity is a performance enhancer ;D

Hi there!

I was just wondering if you have any predictions on the area of the syllabus you think this year's crime, world order and families question will be on?

Also, what is the most effective way of studying for legal studies in exams, particularly in remembering LCMID for all those dot points!

Thank you :)

Hey! Welcome to the forums! I think a Law Reform question is pretty highly likely for the Crime question this year, it's a theme/challenge they haven't touched in ages (maybe ever?) and I think it would be a nice change from the more specific questions we've been getting in the last couple of years :) not sure about the Options, Family we've covered all the contemporary issues now. Hell, it could even be a law reform question FOR Family. World Order is always pretty much the same, the questions all revolve around the effectiveness of the different mechanisms in some way, shape or form ;D

Remembering your evidence for essays is a tough one, because everyone does it differently. I personally made summary sheets like these!  You might also want to read this guide on other ways to study for Legal. At its core, you need to remember your content in a way that works for you, then make sure you are applying it - Write a heap of practice essays! As well as preparing you for the exam, you'll remember your stuff way quicker if you are using it :)

Hey Jamon!

For ENGLISH PAPERS 1 AND 2 would you recommend just memorizing all essays? if so, any tips to memorize all the essays!

Hey! Welcome to the forums! ;D

I personally would recommend against memorising your essays for Paper 2, and I wrote a big rant on it that you can read right here ;D this said, a lot of people do well memorising, if you wanted some tips to help you with it, you can read those here - Hope this helps ;D

For Module B: I am doing T.S.Eliot and we have to learn a number of poems. I have studied two of them in depth and have all their quotes memorised, and the rest i have investigated their themes and stuff, but it will be very time consuming for me to remember ALL their quotes (time I'd rather divide up for other subjects too). My plan is that if they prescribe one of these poems I haven't memorised I will simply be able to read the one that's prescribed because it will be provided. However, someone today told me that the prescribed text will not be written out in full form and will only be a title - my teacher had not warned me of this. Is my plan thwarted or will the prescribed poem indeed be provided in full form?

Hello  :)
I have largely been doing past papers as study for my Mathematics Trial.. but how do you remember formulas? There seem to have been so many in just the last few topics that I struggle to remember them all accurately? Any other general tips for Maths study??!
Also, how did you maintain motivation and not procrastinate when studying?!
thanks!

Hey!! Remember that you'll get a reference sheet in your exam, so most formulas you won't need to remember! For the few you do, continuing to practice will definitely get them in eventually. In the meantime, try sticking posters around your room and desk! It's what I did when I didn't get a reference sheet and it worked a charm ;D no other tips I can offer my friend! Math study is really all about the practice - If you are doing that, you are doing the right thing - I did write this guide with some other little helpful things though :)

To me, motivation is a game of routine. It's far easier to work if you know what you are doing and why you are doing it, and how long you are doing it for. I recommend you make a study timetable that is realistic for you, and then stick to it like Gospel. This will hopefully keep you from procrastinating because you'll have set things to be doing at all times ;D you can read a guide I wrote on making a study timetable here :)

If all else fails, apps like these can be used to block YouTube (I've needed to do this a few times) ;)

Hey Jamon,
What are your top strategies for remembering content in general (not final cramming) and prep the night before an exam?

Hi Jamon,

Any advice on how to remember everything for paper 2? Just so much to get down in little time.
Also whats the best way to attack paper 1? What order should the test be done in kind of thing.
Thanks!

Hey! Welcome to the forums!! ;D

So for Paper 2 (essays in general) I don't recommend memorising the whole essay. You can read why here - Instead I believe you should be memorising your quotes and techniques, and practicing using those in responses! How you remember these is up to you - I personally made a big colourful table for each Module with the quotes and techniques I wanted to use from that Module, with colours to indicate theme and stuff like that. I know people who just wrote them out a lot - This works well! Or you could even record yourself saying them, lots of options, but the key is memorise only the quotes and techniques. The rest can (and in my opinion, should) be put together on the spot to answer the question!

I personally did Paper 1 in this order:

- Unseen
- Essay
- Creative

Creative is the one section you can afford to spend a little less time on than 40 minutes, so I preferred to do it last to let the others overflow if they had to ;D in general, start with what you are confident with! Get the 'easy' marks first, so to speak ;)

Hey Jamon, thanks for doing this  :)

I'm wondering if you burnt out at any point in year 12, and if not how you managed to avoid it. I feel like I'm running out of steam really close to the finish line, so any advice helps.

Thanks in advance!
