I did the same thing as you one year. I acted in a certain way where the popular kids liked it and I was happy until days came when I was myself, then it hit me that it was tough acting as someone your not and that they didn't like the 'real' me. It certainly felt awesome when I was myself and my friends accepted me for who it was. That feeling is like weights coming off your shoulders, you no longer have to put effort into acting like somebody your not.

But I don't regret that experience, its an experience and lesson I will always remember in the future.

That's a very mature outlook :)

My biggest regret is undertaking Yr 12 in two separate years due to difficult personal circumstances, as I'm now very lonely and disconnected at the school. It's a difficult regret to have when I also see it as a very responsible decision.

Perhaps regret is not the right word -- maybe I'm just bitter with myself?

I'm going to sound like I'm moping at some point, but I'll do this anyway:
As a result, I am ending my trials feeling unsatisfied, because I don't have anyone I feel open talking to about anything, despite having plenty of friends I talk shit with.
Take my example and be who you want to be, take all of the opportunities you can, and please ask out the girl or guy you're crushing on (as long as you feel comfortable doing so), because you'll get to the point where it's too late to do anything, and tear yourself up over it.

AHHH I feel like this is going to be me but it's too late and im already crammin LOL # YOLO But I hope that you come out of HSCs feeling much more accomplished! Just be proud of yourself for getting through that assessment block. I'm sure that there are many bright opportunities for you in the future :)

I can probably say the same with me, except I'm not at school, but doing VCE via distance ed, which is even more isolating. I never liked school, so I'm okay with that, but I do find there are weeks where I can go by in my house with saying two sentences, and it's really sad to come to terms with how little my friends/family actually spend time with me. And how they all have their priorities in work/uni. But meh, we'll just endure it for the time being; it's gonna be ok; and also, books preoccupy most of my time anyway, so I'm not complaining. But I know the feels ( > ;__;)> *hugs* if you need anyone to talk to I have my pm open and ready for lonesome memes.

Thank you, that's awfully kind! This reminds me of one of the those I DON'T regret about high school -- joining AN

being in year 12 now... i have many regrets. i regret i picked business in year 11, what a dumb choice, i could've done better in other subjects or had a better time there. i can't stop myself from not being motivated, but i wish there were more things for me to be motivated by, because this year is probably the worst of high school marks wise, and that really makes me disappointed in myself. those are just school ones, but i have many many many more if i actually bother to think about them.

Haha wow I did the exact opposite. I always detested the popular kids and in fact most people because they spent all their time bantering and so I alienated myself from them, instead of realising most of them were nice people. I now regret this scenario cause I ended up with almost no friends until year 12.

Definitely regret not talking and getting to know all the people in my year a lot more. Most of the people in my year are really nice but i'm pretty shy so I have talked to my main friend group a lot more then anyone else in my year. Theres probably some people that I've only talked to a few times, if any.
I regret not taking modern history because I thought I would be doing too much history, as I love history at the moment.
Part of me regrets doing 13 units, like I love my subjects but there is so much work (9 trial exams and 2 major works). But, I wouldn't want to drop any of my subjects either.
Also, regret not trying to get my hours up for my L's as earlier on as I could. I'm still on 52 hours and it's almost been 1 1/2 years.

One of my regrets in high school was not doing debating because now that there are opportunities (eg. mooting and/or public speaking). Would have helped me out a lot  :-[

My sister always tries to persuade me to do debating but I'm too shy and afraid. Some people are just really good and that puts me down  :-\ But then again some people are pretty bad maybe I can be one of them ;D The hardest part is always signing up and going on the first day.

Yeah, like a lot of things, signing up for stuff like this is often the hardest part. ;D I really encourage you to give it a crack!

So, definitely something hard if your shy, but could be really cool.
I did mock trials last year for legal (so, slightly different to debating) -and had a really amazing team. I was a witness once-which was really scary (like you needed to learn your witness statement and I got cross examined by a girl from Hurlstone!). But, it was one of the best experiences of year 11-like really cool to prepare and do.
The first meeting might be a bit difficult! But, it could end up being really fun :D

Wow! That does sound really fun :D Legal studies seems very interesting. Thank you for sharing your experience, I'll consider it :)
