12.1km yesterday. Felt good, thought I was going to smash through the 13km mark, and then my hips started to shut down a little.

Still, happy with that.

Full transparency: I haven't run in a month.

Tips for getting the motivation to run through the cooler weather?

Get the hot chocolate started, do your fastest one kilometre, and be back home by the time the milk is ready... :D

This DOES require a pace of ~3 minutes per k... :(

Depends how warm you like your milk. ;)

If you don't like feeling cold, maybe wear lots of layers... And perhaps do a mini warm-up inside before going for a run in the cold air outside? E.g. star jumps or something similar.
(I normally just start running - as there is a massive hill at the start of the route, so I am semi-warm by the time I get to the top - but I guess this won't work for everyone :)).

Get some decent gear - so like, some compression tights, maybe a decent jumper to run in (activewear shopping time)! It makes it a lot more pleasant.

Also just gotta focus on the good things - so like, yeah you're maybe gonna suffer a bit, but you're gonna feel reeeeeally good after you've done your run.

Have never run in tights but keen on this idea, I think. Do you have any recommendations?

I personally like 2XU the most, but Skins and basically every sporting brand (Nike, Adidas, Under Armour) have a range of compression wear. Just pop on down to Rebel Sport or go to an outlet shopping centre (this is good for picking up cheap compression wear, because it's like, last season's stock or whatever).

2XU is a tad expensive, but if you look after it, it'll last you years. I've had some of my pairs for over 2/almost 3 years with pretty regular use and they're still going fine.

How do you run in summer, though?  I find winter fine, I like the biting air, but summer destroys me.

Cold air hurts my teeth. In summer I have no such issues haha.

J41 on Thursday: "if you think about running - I've been trying to run more recently - you wouldn't go from doing no running at all to trying to run 10km the first time you go running, right? If you *do*, then, it's pretty silly because you'll probably get injured, stuff like that. And I know, because I'm a silly guy, and I try to do that; I don't run for ages, and then I start running and think, 'oh, I'm feeling so good - I'm just going to smash out 10km'. And then inevitably, I get injured and don't run for the next six months."

J41 on Saturday: runs 10+km, having not run at all for 1.5 months. Lol.

Managed 10km after work last night.

Was hard. Running in the cold is way more difficult than running in the warmth - do others find this, too? Physically, that is.

I always found it harder to run in the heat, I could run forever in the cold! Might be something to do with the fact that I grew up playing a winter sport

Personally I find it less physically demanding, but much tougher mentally. I'll really struggle some mornings to run when I look out the window and its grey, cold and rainy :(
