Monash grades.

Hi,

I am doing 2 units (ATS1371 and ATS2861) at Monash over the summer via cross-institutional study and I was wondering whether Monash grades are distributed on a bell curve or is it merit based. Do people get HD because their work is considered to be at a HD standard or are they given a HD because their work is considered better than the others?

Also, in your opinion, is it harder to get a HD if the grades are distributed on a bell curve or the other? I know it doesn't really matter but I was just wondering.

Lastly, is there an exponential difference in difficulty between first year subjects and second year subjects? I am currently in first year but I am taking ATS2861, which is a second year subject, so I am worried I might not be ready.

Thank you.
