i thought they weren't included in the study design for unit 3 and 4, but online checkpoints questions include questions that involve mitosis and meiosis? the questions involving mitosis and meiosis aren't recent though (2000-2007 ish), but im assuming that cambridge wouldn't put questions that aren't relevant to the exam?

You do not need to know mitosis and meiosis. It is not in the key knowledge dot points so they cannot assess it. If they want to ask a question about it they have to give you the information in the stem of the question.

They cannot ask what happens in anaphase 1? Or when does crossing over occur?

Understanding the basics about it (ie DNA is passed from parent to offspring and that crossing over occurs) is really all you need to know.

Mitosis and meiosis is unit 2 biology now so won't (shouldn't ) come up on this unit 3 + 4 exam.

and like phoenixfire has said mitosis/meiosis won't come up on this years exam (that is without vcaa giving you info on mitosis/meiosis then asking you relevant questions).
