Hey guys,

Roughly what is the minimum % that must be achieved in the exam to get a 50? This is assuming rank 1 in SACs.

Thanks!

Depends on year since exam difficulty varies. It is a new study design so exam is out of 120, going off previous study design youd want 113-115/120 on a hard/moderate exam and 118/120 on an easy exam.

Would you know any VCAA/commercial exams that would be considered hard, and ones considered easy? I'd like to compare the difference :)

last year's VCAA biology paper was definitely more difficult than usual (this is subjective tho), comparatively easier papers would include 2013 and 2015.
2018-2020: Bachelor of Actuarial Science (+ Econometrics), Monash
2021: Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), Econometrics & Financial Mathematics, Monash
2022-2023: Work and some soul-searching

personally i thought from past 4 years (last study design) it was
2015 > 2014 = 2016  > 2013 (2015 being the hardest - although that was my year so may be bias haha) and I didn't do the 2016 exam in full exam conditions :P
looking at the grade required for A+ it has been
2013: 93/110
2014: 96/100
2015: 91.5/110
2016: 94/110

but then again really up to personal preference

Cheers!

STAV are really good papers , they are roughly VCAA difficulty baring a couple fo SA questions i think
insight are alright on the easy side
NEAP good but are tougher than usual iirc
tssm/tsfx - not that good i think on the easy side

not sure if i've missed any companies :P

Fairly sure 2015 is universally considered the hardest biology exam in recent years. IMO 2016 difficulty is somewhere between 2014 and 2015, with 2013 being substantially easier. It seems with VCE science subjects they make the first year of the study design fairly easy, so I’m anticipating 2017 won’t be too difficult.
