How are class rankings determined?

Hi everyone

I am wondering how class rankings are determined for subjects with a SAT (school assessed task). Are there two ranks depending on how people scored in each unit? Are there two ranks depending on how people scored for the SACS and the SAT? Or are there just one absolute rank which is calculated through adding up all asessments?

In this case GA1 is all SACS, GA2 is the SAT and GA3 is the written examination.

Thanks!!!

From what I understand, there is a seperate ranking for GA1 and GA2. I am not 100% sure if SATs alter this at all...

Each subject with an SAT has details on the VCAA website re what outcomes (AOS) the SAT contributes marks to. Because your teacher sends VCAA in the mark you received for each outcome, and then VCAA calculates your ranking and post-moderation grade for each unit - that's not something your teacher has to worry about.

For example, the Media SAT contributes marks to Unit 3 Outcomes 2 and 3, and Unit 4 Outcome 1.

So by this, you mean that VCAA would calculate the ranks depending on the marks for each unit? So it'd be unit based rankings?

Thankss so much for the reply :)

That's okay! The ranking is basically overall, because each unit contributes equally. But your teacher just sends your marks in for each outcome and lets VCAA do the rest.
