Anyone who did Frankenstein, how do you think it went? Personally I struggled with the prompts given, chose the 2nd one hesitantly and wrote a pretty ordinary essay :-\ I'm predicting 5/10 which is really below my standard.

I feel you.
I did Frankenstein too, I chose the first one as I felt it was easier to write about but I do agree the prompts weren't the easiest!! I struggled to find good quotes to do with compassion, I think I got maybe around a 6/10 since a lack of quotes but I think I made some decent points, so I guess I'll find out in December. Best of luck.

I think I messed up the Frankenstein. I chose topic 1 and got a fairway through before realising a much better way to respond. I was too far in to go back, so I sorta had to roll with a fairly crap approach. I'm hoping for an 8/10, but I have a feeling its in the 7 range.

I feel you - I chose topic 1 for my pair of YOW and TC and like yourself realised I had a better response to topic 2 but had to roll with whatever I written. Hopefully both of our pieces are okay :)

Same! I chose topic one for the YOW + TC comparison but completely lost my train of thought

I felt like I didnt get to express what I wanted to say clearly and that stresses me out but at least it's over!
Btw, does anyone know how much the exam contributes to study score?

The exam is worth 50% of the study score

I am sure you did fine - it is hard to fully express yourself well in the timed conditions

Omg the frankenstein ones screwed me up. I too struggled with the topics and ended up writing a mundane essay, despite the fact that the practises I did were of better standard. I chose the first topic because I knew if I chose the second, I would have not stayed on topic which IMO is more dangerous than writing an average essay.

But thankfully it's over. No more English- a bitter sweet feeling

Anyone do topic 1 for Tracks & Into the Wild?

How'd you feel about it? I found it fairly difficult to talk about the ways they seek to discover what really matters to them. I think my ideas were:

1)Both seek isolation and this affords them a discovery of self.
2) Davidson seeks hardship in order to "prove", whereas McCandless does not really consider hardship.
3) Ultimately, both inevitably seek/value a blend of both worlds, where freedom is available with some relationships.

Had to really rush the conclusion, so the end ins pretty damn bad  :'(

The Medea prompts were great, and the Stasiland/Nineteen Eighty-Four prompts were awful. Language Analysis was pretty average  :'( honestly have no clue at all how I went. Wrote 5.5 pages for LA and 6.5 for TR and Comparative.

Which option for the crucible/year of wonders did everyone choose?
I did option 1 but both prompts were really confusing...
Section C was pretty straight forward though :)

The Medea prompts were great,

I definitely thought the same. I ended choosing the second one. What about you?

Yep I ended up writing on the second one as well! The first one was very very basic, I thought the second one was a tad more interesting.

I thought the prompts were pretty difficult, but also chose the second one. I think it was a good essay and I discussed a lot of interesting things I was hoping to get into my essay but since I did it last my expression and vocab were suboptimal. Also worried I misinterpreted the prompt or didn't answer the question fully.

Did prompt 2, didn't think either of them were too bad although I was expecting easier questions since it's the first year. Probably wrote a fairly mediocre essay but can't do anything about it now. Section C was a lot easier than anticipated though.

I feel amazing about that exam!! I somehow finished all 3 pieces by 11:15 and left the room at 11:45 after reviewing my work twice. I also didn't feel too nervous beforehand despite only studying last night.

CONGRATS EVERYONE! WE DID IT! ;D
