In the English exam today I shaded the box of the prompt I chose in section a and b but failed to write the pair of texts it was because I was so stressed and it completely slipped my mind. Will I lose marks?? I’m freaking out

Last year a heap of people forgot to specify what prompts we were doing for Chinese and none of us got penalised. So, I don’t think you’d be penalised for something like that.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think if you mentioned the title of the texts or the authors somewhere in your essay you should be fine? Don't beat yourself up about it, I am certain that you're not the only one who forgot to shade the box and the examiners will probably figure it out. :)

Hey, don't worry about it. My teacher was telling us we definitely won't be penalised for that, it's a human mistake.

Just confirming that this is 100% not a problem - happens all the time and assessors are very aware of it. So long as your essay made it clear which one you were talking about (e.g. if the first prompt is about 'conflict' and the second one is about 'understanding' and your intro is like 'the character's understanding of one another is as essential as their understanding of themselves' - even if you've ticked the first box, they'll be like 'you're clearly writing about understanding' :P )

Same goes for anyone who ticked the wrong text box (i.e. selected the wrong novel/film/play etc.) They'll just note that you've actually written on a different text and then send it on to a relevant assessor :)

I completely missed the page where we had to shade the boxes of which texts we chose!! I shaded the i/ii box on the lined page, but not these!! Is that okay, will they figure out what I am writing about?

Yes, we (and stress that I am not examining 2017 English, but have recently) will.

We have terrible trouble with students writing outside the lines last year. It's a human mistake.

As long as we can understand your answer, we can understand the question.

I have only ever once, out of thousands of exam papers, ever experienced a student who wrote something that still at the end gave me no idea what the text was or the question was.
